Appendix for Module2
- Try and be particular on concentrating on 5 different letters each
halaka to ensure proper pronounciation, thereafter be very precise and
correct all mistakes for the REST OF THE PEACENET halakas ( ie never let
mispronounciation go). AFTER explaining the rule, then have everyone
recite three ayaat each, progressing through the entire quran ( ie
begin at surah al-baqara and everyone recites three different ayaat,
continuously progressing forward. Continue where you left off next halaka).
- After part one, have people recite the surah that was designated to
a partner. ( Every halaka, remind everyone of the surah they must
memorize by next halaka). Follow this by a tafseer of the memorized surah.
- Discuss 4 hadith per halaka. Presenter should try and understand
the hadith by his own research and asking knowledgable people if
available. 2 texts which will be particularly useful to aid the research
are "Fath Al-Baariy Fee Sharh Saheeh Al-Bukhariy" and "Sharh Saheeh
Al-Muslim". If the presenter can find an arabic speaking person to translate
the interpretation for him/her, it can then be transmitted to the group.
Otherwise a general explanation can be given.
- Impact International is published out of England and is an
extremely high quality magazine with tth Proffesionality of Time. It is
very accurate and tries to present the fact as opposed to just emotion.
It comments on all issues touching the Ummah - Arguably the number one
magazine for news in the World today, published from an Islamic
Perspective. Impact promises a free copy to begin with...if the halaka
wants, a continuous subscription could be purchased. Every halaka a news
story should be summarized and discussed.
- Present the second third of the book Al- Mahzoorat. Have presenter
take his time and not rush. Try and discuss each point with examples. Try
and have everyone resolve how they will change their actions in relation
to the teachings.
- Have Presenter present one fifth of the Book each
halaka...remember, he should not recite the book ( barring specific
quotes ) but instead present his understanding and its relevance.
Discussion should take place following.

- Note : If any Module is too basic or too hard for a group, it is alright
to adjust the speed at which it covered. Groups which are advanced can go
quickly through some areas. If parts of a given module are already completed
by a given group, then they are encouraged to begin a portion of a subsequent
module to accomodate their level of learning.

- The curriculum is meant to be followed exactly unless an approved alternative book is discussed with the coordinating council
- The model for the small halka is included.
- The curriculum is a broad program seeking to produce a well rounded Islamic personality in the context of the small halka which
itself has three goals.
- tafahum - mutual understanding of Islam
- ta aaruf- getting to know one another as brothers and sisters
- takaaful- mutual cooperation in activities as well as life problems
- All halkas should be exclusively male of exclusive female
- Due to the wide range of needs and levels, topics in the curriculum have been broken down into stages.
- It is up to the Amir to decide which areas should be concentrated on - although all should be covered during the
halka or on the participants own time.
- Essential components, regardless ot the level, include
- Tafseer (every halka)
- Tajweed (until everyone is proficient),
- Personality building (one half hour per Halka until this section is completed).
- Begin with the easier books in each Section (level A where applicable), before going to the next level.
- Try and finish all the initial level books before going to the next level in a different section. However, use
your discretion based upon the needs of your halka.
- Give each presenter a time frame for finishing books, but do not rush them or let them take too long. If the discussion
sectionis prolonged then let it continue overtime to a reasonable extent. This is where the most of the learning
is taking place.
- See the young muslims of the UK curriculum to get a guideline on how to conduct small a Halka as well.
- Consider the needs of your group. A Halaka consisiting of high University students should progress at
a faster pace than one consisiting to Junior High students.
- Emphasize expertise in school and give time off for final exams.
- Pick one day of the week for regular meetings that do not conflict with anybody's schedule or with community
events if possible.
- Consult Riyaad Shamma and Muzzammil Nawaz regarding innovative interactive learning Techniques and
modules.
- Try and make the halaka interesting by haveing it ina a park every so often or go and visit a grave together
as this will help the group to gel.
- It is essential to hold a retreat for the Halaka every two months. This should be done with other Halakas in the
region.
- Feel free to introduce other topics of interest and try to allocate some time to discuss real issues at the end
of each halaka (See model).
- You must have some drinks and snacks at the end of each halaka. This gives people a chance to talk
about what really is on their mind.
- If a book is too advanced or if it is in Arabic and there are no qualified people in the halaka, then and outside
resource person must be invited for a set number of halakas. The PeaceNet coordinating council can help
you contact qualified brothers in various cities.
