- Lynn Neary begins a three-part series on Islam in America. Today, she talks with American Muslims who live in Indiana. Some say that when they first moved to the midwest in the '60s, there was some opposition by residents. Now, they feel accepted. Many American Muslims say there's a variety of people who practice Islam in this country, including immigrants from Asia, Africa and the Middle East. (8:45)
- Lynn Neary examines the growth of Islam among African-Americans in the second of three reports. Neary visits Harlem, where a resurgence of Islam has been underway since the 1960s. The Muslims with whom she speaks make a distinction between Islam as practiced by orthodox Sunni Muslims and that followed by adherants of the Nation of Islam, which has a pronounced black nationalist vision. (8:55)
- Lynn Neary concludes her series on Islam in the United States with a report on young Americans born and raised as Muslims. These children of immigrants and converts talk about their experience growing up as Muslims and about the future for Islam in this country. (8:41)
